Clay Flower Making Workshop

Description

Join us with friends for a relaxing Crafternoon, where you’ll make a set of two decorative flowers from our Derbyshire clay, pottery tools and colourful slips. Once kiln fired, they’ll be mounted onto garden canes for you to brighten up your outdoor space.

What to expect on the day:

Our friendly team will start with a ‘how-to’ demonstration, and share lots of useful hints and tips along the way to help you get the most out of your workshop - you don’t need to be an expert to join us!

Then it’s over to you to make your own set of two ceramic flowers by following our templates and rolling and shaping our stoneware clay to create a 3D flower effect. Keep things simple or add extra detailing to the petals with our decorating tools before painting a layer of white slip over your flowers.

After a cuppa break, it’s time to let your imagination flow and add some colour to your creations with our pottery slip paints.

Left with our team, your clay flowers (one large and one smaller flower) will be fired in our kilns, ready to collect later to display in your spring garden. The garden canes are included too for you to assemble at home.

Throughout this workshop, our team will be on hand to offer you guidance and inspiration (should you need it).

CRAFTING TIME: Please meet at the Denby Craft Studio & Welcome Desk ready for your workshop to promptly start. This is a 3 hour workshop. Please note that all bookings need to be confirmed up to 48 hours in advance.

WHO’S IT FOR: This adult craft workshop is perfect for all abilities and is fully accessible to everyone.

NOTES: All materials, including an apron, will be provided on the day. As you will be working with clay and paint, we advise you to wear something that you don't mind getting dirty.

A free hot drink is also included, which can be enjoyed on the day in Bourne’s Coffee Shop & Bistro.

Please note that on occasion, clay work may crack or break in the kiln firing process and this is beyond our control. In the unfortunate event that this should happen we will contact you and advise of the options available.

We will contact you when your creations are ready to collect (within 2-3 weeks).
