Derby's Music Scene
Derby boasts a vibrant and diverse music scene offering a rich tapestry of genres that cater to all tastes. The city has also been the birthplace of several notable musicians and bands. The indie pop band White Town, fronted by Jyoti Mishra, hails from Derby; their song "Your Woman" reached No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart in January 1997. Additionally, Lucy Ward, an English singer-songwriter known for her traditional folk songs and original material, is from Derby.
