BFI Film Academy Short Film Collection – QUAD Extra Gallery Spaces

From 22^nd July to 27^th August, QUAD will be exhibiting 9 incredible short films produced by former participants of our BFI Film Academy in the Extra Gallery Spaces.  Screened to the public for the very first time, this collection exemplifies the ambition, talent and creativity of young filmmakers from Derby and the Midlands.

Funded by the British Film Institute, QUAD has delivered the BFI Film Academy in Derby for the last three years, supporting young people aged 16-19 to develop the commercial and cultural knowledge and skills to forge a career in the film industry.  Each year young filmmakers take part in the programme at QUAD, originating stories and scripts with a selection chosen for adaptation into short films which are then produced collaboratively by the group utilising their new skills and experiences.

The BFI Film Academy Short Film Collection is bold and hard-hitting, with shorts covering mature themes and topical issues that resonate with the filmmakers, as well as the audience.  Each film that has been produced is a testament to the passion, resilience and vision of the BFI Film Academy participants.

The BFI Film Academy Short Film Collection includes Escaping Time (2021), Lost & Found (2021), Two Lives (2021), Drowning Thoughts (2022), Lighthouse Box (2022), Odd One Out (2022), The Monster Downstairs (2023), Mould (2023), and Run Away (2023).

Please note that these films are unsuitable for young children as they include strong language and mature themes.
