Just a few steps from Derby’s rail station, this former railway men’s retreat has been lovingly restored to its Victorian glory.

This pub was built as the Crompton & Evans Union Bank, later the city branch of the NatWest, which closed in 1993 and is now, appropriately, called The Standing Order.

The number one meeting place for a night out in Derby, The Standing Order is a Wetherspoon's pub selling a wide range of drinks and pub grub.

The Rowditch

A welcoming pub with two drinking areas and a small snug and always a choice of well-kept ales, usually including one from the pubs own brewery. At the rear is a peaceful garden with tables. There is a collection of brewer-mania in a glass fronted cupboard opposite the bar. Don't miss the Red Barrel dispense on the bar.

The Alexandra Hotel

A multi award winning pub dating back to around 1890. The pub has undergone a sympathetic refurbishment, but maintains the core values of quality beers at a reasonable price.

The pub is host to a variety of railway memorabilia which includes the cab from a Class 37 loco in the car park. In addition to the ever changing range of draught beers, there is a large selection of bottled beers from around the world.

The Golden Eagle

A corner house beside Markeaton Brook, crowded with historical memorabilia and a fine display of pump clips. Offering a small bar with an expanded drinking area and additional seating upstairs. Darts board near the back of the pub, next to a door that opens on to the outside patio area. Take part in the popular quiz Wednesday evening and acoustic music every Thursday evening.

The Smithfield

A handsome riverside pub with a central bar serving the main bar and separate quiet back bar. On a fine day the large outside terrace overlooking the river is very pleasant. The beer range is very varied with a strong emphasis on new breweries. There is also a good selection of craft keg beer. Awarded Derby CAMRA Pub of the Year 2018 and 2019 and East Midlands Pub of the Year 2019.

The Horse and Groom

A traditional community pub that has transformed from a small public house into a larger establishment by knocking through two adjoining properties. In the heart of Derby's West End, this family owned and run free house, is noted for its regular draught Bass and interesting range of three guest beers. Free live music at the weekend, open mic Thursday evening and jazz last Wednesday of the month.
