Chatsworth
Description
Chatsworth, home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, has evolved through the centuries to reflect the tastes, passions and interests of 16 generations of the Cavendish family.
Described as the ‘Palace of the Peak’, there are over 30 rooms to explore in the house, which today contains works of art that span 4000 years. The 105-acre garden has evolved over more than 450 years, and continues to change today.
The farmyard and adventure playground are favourites of children of all ages, and the 1000-acre park on the banks of the river Derwent was chiefly designed by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown in the 1760s.
Chatsworth has a number of shops and restaurants, serving dishes ranging from light bites, through to warm hearty meals, and delicious afternoon teas. If you’d prefer something to take away, the award winning estate farm shop offers a wide variety of locally sourced products, and features a butchery, deli, bakery and fishmonger - plus much more.
With a calendar of events including the Chatsworth Country Fair, International Horse Trials, and Christmas in the house (to name but a few), you can be sure to find something for all the family.
