Description

Mythic Echoes present ‘Vampire Games Day II’; a celebration of vampire-themed roleplaying games in The Museum on The Wardwick.

Dracula had an indelible influence on gaming, with the story reimagining how a monster can be presented. These influences have percolated into a multitude of tabletop roleplaying games, where vampires are presented as either antagonists, protagonists or as player characters.

Players can book one of several vampire-themed roleplaying games, each of which will be run by expert storytellers and dungeon masters. There will be a break for lunch at midday and a raffle at the end of the day, along with prizes for the best-dressed players and best-presented table.

For those that are not too drained, there will be an opportunity for socialising afterwards.

Mythic Echoes is a collaboration between events manager Eunice Morecroft-Low and freelance writer Peter Ray Allison, who met through a shared interest in collaborative storytelling. They successfully held the first Vampire Games Day in 2025 and the immersive vampire live role-play experience As Night Falls: The Auction at Elvaston Castle in October.

Games available include:

Gone But Not ForgottenSystem: Warhammer: The Old WorldGM: Chris Handley (he/him)

Years after the Vampire Wars ravaged the lands of the Empire, a band of adventurers must unearth things left best forgotten, as rumours of the living dead stalking the lands of Talagaad spread.

Content warnings: violence, blood drinking, and some body horror.

Save the MakerSystem: Dungeons & Dragons 5EGM: Katie Walford (she/her)

You arrive back to your crypt buzzing from a fresh hunt but something is wrong.  The stone doors stand ajar, claw marks scar the walls, and the lingering scent of ash and silver hangs in the air. Your dead heart clenches in the realisation that your coffins have been moved — and worse still, your Maker is gone. Who dared breach sacred ground and steal away the one who gave you unlife?

You have until dawn to follow the trail, terminate those responsible, and bring your Maker home

Players: You will play level 6 Vampire. A build that will be made up 2014 Players Handbook class of your choice and a blend of your choice of specie and homebrew Vampire mechanics that I will provide for you.

Content warnings: blood, gore, fantasy violence, capture and torture.

Alone in a Darkened RoomSystem: VaesenGM: Darran Sims (he/him)

As members of a secret society, you have been tasked with investigating the disappearance of a prominent industrialist and shipping magnate in the city of Malmö. The young man disappeared from the same room that has a series of disappearances associated with it. The same room the Investigators are looking into now. So why is there no trace of anyone staying overnight in that room?

Content warnings: horror, supernatural, death and undead.

The last voyage of the SS DemeterSystem: MothershipGM: Ben Miles

Most intergalactic long-haul jobs are the same. You are paid to transport a small community of people from Earth to a new settlement on Alpha Centauri, along with their cattle, crops and all their earthly possessions to start a new life hundreds of light years away.

But this isn’t most jobs. All you have to do is take one small, wooden crate from Earth to Alpha Centauri. No passengers, no livestock, no cargo. Just the box. The person hiring you is willing to pay an absolute fortune to do this job, an amount too ludicrous to turn down, no matter how strange the job.

But in the depths of space, money is the least of your worries.

Content warnings: Horror, gore, gaslighting/manipulation

The DrainbowSystem: Dungeons & Dragons 5EGM: Tom Morecroft-Low (he/him)

One last job, but possibly your most dangerous one yet. You were able to track the Don’s brother to a hidden club named The Drainbow; a vampire exclusive den where they store, chill and mix only the finest blood for their clientele. You’ve managed to take a membership card from the last fiend you found, but now it’s time to take a chance.

Will you be able to masquerade and fool the hundreds of blood-drunk vampires long enough to find the Don’s brother, or will you end up as the blood-drunk?

Content warnings: blood cattle, imprisonment, minor torture, parties, partial nudity (non-visual), sex, drugs, rock and roll.

PLEASE NOTE: Games contain adult content if you need more information please contact us on info@derbymuseums.org.

Suitable for adults.

Presented as part of ‘Dracula Returns to Derby: 101 Years and Counting’.
