Three-Day Hand-Building Pottery Crash Course for Adults

Explore the creative possibilities of clay during this three-day hand-building pottery course for adults. Across three practical sessions, participants will learn a range of techniques and use them to create their own handmade ceramic pieces. The course is suitable for beginners as well as those looking to build confidence and develop their skills.

The course must be booked as a full three-day programme. It takes place on Tuesday 4, Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 August 2026, from 10:30am to 1:00pm each day. The price is £120.

Two-Day Kids’ Pottery Camp

This two-day pottery camp offers young people the chance to explore clay, learn creative techniques and make their own pottery pieces in a friendly studio environment. Both sessions are included, allowing time to develop ideas and complete creations.

Suitable for children aged 8 and above, the camp runs on Thursday 13 and Friday 14 August 2026, from 10:30am to 12:30pm each day. The price is £60 for both days.

Derby Ram Making Workshop for Adults

Celebrate one of Derby’s best-known symbols by creating your own handmade Derby Ram. In this guided workshop, participants will shape and decorate their own unique clay ram. A drink is included in the price.

The workshop takes place on Tuesday 11 August 2026 from 10:15am to 12:45pm. The price is £40. No previous experience is required.

Saturday Pottery Workshops

Spend your Saturday afternoon getting creative with clay at Craftcore. These regular workshops offer the opportunity to explore techniques, develop skills and create handmade pieces in a welcoming studio environment. Sessions can be booked individually.

Workshops run every Saturday from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, priced at £30 per session.

Family Fun Day: Derby Ram Making

Enjoy a creative family activity and make your own Derby Ram using air-drying clay. This relaxed workshop gives families the chance to get creative together and take their finished piece home on the day.

Taking place on Tuesday 25 August 2026, sessions are available between 11:00am and 4:00pm and last up to 45 minutes. The price is £15 per session.

Japanese Tea Bowl Workshop

Join a special evening workshop inspired by traditional Japanese tea bowls. The session begins with tea and an introduction, followed by a practical clay workshop using buff stoneware. Participants will explore form, texture and hand-building techniques while creating their own tea bowl.

The workshop takes place on Thursday 20 August 2026, with tea at 6:00pm and the clay session running from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. The price is £40, including a drink.

Learn to Throw on the Pottery Wheel: Five-Week Course

Learn the essential techniques of throwing clay on a pottery wheel in this structured five-week evening course. Participants will cover preparing and centring clay, shaping forms and building confidence through regular practice.

The course runs every Tuesday from 5:30pm to 7:30pm and must be booked as a full five-week programme. The price is £175.

Evening Pottery Drop-In Sessions

Visit Craftcore during extended evening hours and enjoy extra time in the studio. Thursday and Friday drop-in sessions offer a relaxed opportunity to take part in creative activities.
