Derby Chamber Music are delighted to announce the details of their next concert on Sunday 21st January at 4pm at the Multi-Faith Centre, University of Derby. Local cellist, Kathyrn Monteiro will be performing along with pianist Joanna Lam. Kathryn is a Fellow at both the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Royal Academy of Music.
Kathryn grew up in Derby and started learning the cello when she was six, taking lessons with Katherine Jenkinson, one of the UK’s leading cellists. Kathryn went on to study at The Royal Academy of Music before continuing her studies as a postgraduate scholar at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Joanna Lam is a prize-winning pianist and was recently awarded a scholarship to continue her studies through the Artist Diploma programme at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. A former pupil at Chetham’s School of Music, Joanna went on to read Music at Kings College London where she received First Class Honours and the Purcell Prize for gaining the highest mark in her year. Kathryn and Joanna will perform: Schumann; Fantasiestucke, Bizet; Chanson Boheme and Carmen, Myaskovsky; Cello Sonate no.2 and Piazzolla; Grand Tango.
Kathryn will be performing the Cassado Cello Suite for solo cello and Joanna will be performing Ravel’s Miroirs.
Tickets are available on the door, from 3.30pm on the day or can be bought online from www.derbychambermusic.org. There will be an interval when refreshments will be served and there is ample free on-site parking.
