Description
Almost 5,000 people in the UK contracted HIV or hepatitis C after being infected by contaminated NHS blood products in the 70s and 80s, yet no organisation or individual has ever been held to account. More than 2,800 are known to have died, while thousands of families have been devastated.
Caroline, now Political Editor at The Sunday Times, has been reporting on this scandal for over 20 years and has been integral to the campaign for justice for the victims and their families. She played a pivotal role in persuading PM Theresa May to agree to the inquiry in 2019.
Death in the Blood is based on thousands of government and court documents, interviews with politicians and advisers, doctors and, above all, the victims and their families.
