The Museum and Art Gallery on The Strand
The Museum and Art Gallery on The Strand offers a maze of historic architecture and is home to a variety of intriguing collections, including that of the world-renowned works of Joseph Wright, military and natural history and world collections. Located in the heart of the city centre, this unique venue will certainly provide a memorable backdrop for your wedding celebrations.
Ceremonies and Celebrations
This unconventional venue is perfect for ceremonies of 100 or fewer guests and is an unusual and interesting setting to host an intimate post ceremony drinks reception or even an afternoon tea, before moving celebrations onto a larger reception venue. This may not be the first venue to think of when planning a wedding, but the eclectic variety of galleries offers a quirky and unforgettable touch to any celebration.
The Joseph Wright Gallery – Home the largest collection of Wright’s work, this soft lit gallery, complete with elaborate golden frames, is a naturally romantic space, perfect for ceremonies and vow renewals.
The World Collection Gallery – This bright and airy gallery is home to fascinating objects from around the world. The space in between the Victorian display cabinets is ideal for a ceremony or lends itself well to an afternoon tea for a smaller guestlist.
Notice Nature Feel Joy - This gallery profiles nearly 2,000 amazing specimens from our natural history collection and is a wonderful photo opportunity and area for drinks and speeches.
The Royal Lancers Museum – Highlights our military collections and includes the Royal Lancers Museum. The Gallery tells the stories of three local regiments: the Royal Lancers, the Sherwood Foresters, and the Derbyshire Yeomanry.
Dining and Drinks
Derby Museums can provide post ceremony reception drinks, canapes and an afternoon tea at this venue, however external caterers are also welcome, giving you the freedom to add your own special touches.
