The West Mill is a truly unique wedding venue set in a Grade I Listed, former cotton spinning mill. Dating back to the early 1800’s, the building played an important part in the history of the industrial revolution.
Having laid empty and derelict for many years the building was lovingly restored back to life and opened in 2015. The renovation has retained the industrial architecture of the 1800’s, creating a striking backdrop for your wedding day. Barrel vaulted ceilings, exposed brick walls, cast iron columns and beams create the ultimate wow factor.
Occupying a superb setting on the banks of the River Derwent and the historic weir, The West Mill is set in the heart of Darley Abbey, Derbyshire and is ready to host your dream day.

EXCLUSIVE USE
The West Mill is proud to be an ‘Exclusive Use’ Venue.
This means that The West Mill is yours for the day from 11.00am on your wedding day right the way through to midnight.
You and your guests will have exclusive use of our venue and grounds and we guarantee that the only people wandering around will be your nearest and dearest.
In fact, the only people who won’t be among your wedding party will be your Events Manager and the Catering team who will be at your beck and call to ensure that your day runs as smoothly as possible.
NO CORKAGE CHARGE
The West Mill is a no corkage charge wedding venue meaning you have the choice to bring your own daytime drinks free of charge.
Whether it's Pimms for your drinks reception, wine for your wedding breakfast or fizz for your toast. Our No corkage Policy allows you to supply your daytime drinks, allowing a more personal touch to your wedding day.
In the evening, after your wedding breakfast, our dedicated evening bar is opened for you on the first floor and our no corkage period ends. Any left over supplied drinks will be stored safely stored and can be collected the following day.

ON SITE ACCOMMODATION
The Grade II Listed Mill House was originally constructed in 1799 as the Mill Managers House. We have carefully restored the building back into a boutique house, to accommodate you and your guests.
Situated just a stone’s throw from the West Mill Venue, The Mill House consists of eight en-suite double bedrooms all styled to our West Mill Venue signature style. Perfect for the night of your wedding day, you'll be able to end the day in comfort surrounded by your closest friends and family.
