At Derby Museums we truly believe each wedding is unique. We offer you the opportunity to design your own wedding, giving you the freedom to create your vision. We don’t offer set packages, allowing you the freedom and creativity to make your special day whatever you want it to be. There are four beautifully unique venues within Derby Museums for you to choose from, with the ability to build your day across more than one of our stunning venues. Our experienced staff can offer advice and suggest trusted suppliers to help you plan every detail. It’s your day, it should be perfect for you!

The Museum of Making

On the site of what is largely considered to be the world’s first factory, Derby’s iconic Silk Mill offers a stunning industrial backdrop on the banks of the River Derwent. Displaying a treasure trove of objects, the museum invites your guests to explore, view and create their own journey through 300 years of making.

Ceremonies and Celebrations

The Museum of Making embraces the industrial look, with bare brick walls and concrete flooring and makes for an ideal venue. Suitable for more intimate ceremonies or prefect for larger celebrations, this venue can offer to be a part of your day or can provide everything from saying ‘I DO’ to carriages at midnight.

The Italian Mill

This versatile space is perfect for all celebrations from dining to dancing! Our beautiful, copper backed bar is always available, fully staffed and fully stocked, and features items from local breweries and distilleries. There is also the potential offering of in-house catering from our very own onsite River Kitchen.

The Civic Hall

Available to hire outside of museum opening hours, this bright and modern space is ideal for arrival drinks and canape receptions, as an additional entertainment area or even for a ceremony. The main staircase offers a fantastic backdrop for group photographs with a Rolls-Royces Trent 1000 engine looming overhead.

Dining and Drinks

The onsite River Kitchen celebrates rich Derbyshire heritage within their ingredients and inspiration. Creating some fantastic menus to inspire your palate, with the ability to tailor the menu to suit your tastes and budget – from a proper pork cob or a four-course formal wedding breakfast.

At any of the venues, Derby Museums would provide a fully staffed bar for the day; a variety of drinks packages are available including arrival drinks, table drinks and even signature couples’ cocktails.
