Description
Rolls-Royce Heritage Trust – Derby Branch
Located within Rolls-Royce’s Learning and Development Centre in Derby, the Heritage Trust exhibition offers a unique insight into over a century of pioneering aerospace engineering. The collection spans from Henry Royce’s first aero engine, the V12 Eagle of 1915, through the legendary Merlin used in World War II, to the revolutionary Trent XWB powering modern aviation.
With more than thirty engines on display, the exhibition showcases the evolution of propulsion technology and the variety of engineering solutions developed to meet changing needs—ranging from liquid and air-cooled piston engines to advanced gas turbines. Visitors can explore how Rolls-Royce has contributed to aviation innovation across generations.
The centre also plays a key role in supporting STEM education, offering valuable learning opportunities for schools, colleges and current Rolls-Royce employees alike. Visits must be booked in advance.
An excellent insight into Derby’s engineering past – a must for aviation fans.”
