Made in Derby Trail

First stop on our list is the Made in Derby trail, the perfect way to accustom yourself with the city centre and get your bearings. Download the Made in Derby app and scan the stars on the trail as you go to experience the augmented reality features. It's a great opportunity for the whole family to learn more about Derby's significant contribution to history, science and the arts while making the most of the great outdoors and being active. Don't forget to meet Bess of Hardwick outside Bird's Bakery on Victoria Street!

Derby Museum & Art Gallery

As you make your way around the Market Place on the trail, head down Sadler Gate and call by Derby's local museum. The museum has fantastic exhibits for the whole family from Ancient Egyptian mummies to a fun nature section complete with a pangolin and a prehistoric hippo (found under a local pub no less)! Look out for their regular family events and special temporary exhibitions. Recent exhibitions have included a blockbuster Lego exhibition and displays of Leonardo da Vinci's renaissance drawings.

Paradise Island Adventure Golf

Paradise Island offers the ultimate mini-golf challenge for all the family. Choose from two 18-hole courses set across 14,000 square feet and put your golfing skills to the test. On the Shark Bay course, explorers will tee-off on an abandoned shipwreck and navigate through sea caves and finish off in a tribal village and cannibal camp. The Mermaid Rock course takes adventurers from the docks to a monkey temple full of vines and lush tropical plants. Monkey calls and sounds of jungle creatures will add an extra challenge for putting experts not used to hitting a ball in the middle of a rainforest. The expedition will continue through the lost lagoon and will finish in a mystical bazaar spice market full of fragrant fruits, carpets and lanterns, against a backdrop of rich sounds and smell.

For our next stop we head out of the city centre to Bluebell Dairy on the outskirts of Derby. Bluebell's is a working dairy producing luxury artisan ice cream that you can eat on-site at their tea rooms. The site is an adventure with lots of animals to meet and greet along the way. Meet Bill the pot-bellied pig, Twinkle the Donkey, Merlin the Shetland Pony as well as goats, sheep, a giant rabbit, ducks and chickens! Don't forget to grab a bite to eat at the tea rooms and enjoy Bluebell's signature ice cream.
