Description
Discover how people, sheep and land are interwoven in this fascinating talk!
We are delighted to host Laura Harrington, a multidisciplinary artist and researcher who makes work that considers the complex relations between humans and landscapes, often through fieldwork, cross-disciplinary research and collaborative working.
In her enlightening talk, you will explore Laura’s work for Creatively Connected –Wearing the Uplands – where Wool acts as a tool for shared and unfolding conversations around farming, ecology and change in upland landscapes.
Explore Laura’s journey into creating a knitted Sphagnum Bog Jumper—not as a fixed outcome, but as the journey of an upland fleece becoming a garment through a co-creative process with farmers, a wool grader, scourer, carder, spinner, knitter and weavers.
The jumper is an anchor for conversation and imagination, reflecting how people, sheep, land, and ecological rhythms are interwoven.
This workshop is inspired by World 240, contributed by a participant in France. It is 2029 and fast fashion companies are adopting a farm-to-closet strategy and a shift towards sustainability and ethical responsibility. fashionfictions.org/the-worlds/
