Description

Join Amy Twigger Holroyd to be enlightened by her work that explores the possibilities for post-growth fashion systems: alternative ways of living with our clothes that meet our fundamental human needs and respect ecological limits.

A designer, maker, writer and Professor of Alternative Fashion Systems at Nottingham School of Art and Design, Amy will transport you back in time to discover the historical dimensions of today’s sustainable fashion movement.

An array of success stories and cautionary tales in the subjects of Materials, Reuse and Recycling through to Design and Manufacture, provide both inspiration and warnings for the eco-conscious designer and consumer of fashion. The lecture will inspire an innovative approach that builds on predecessors’ discoveries to move the practice of fashion forward. You will be encouraged to question the state of the industry and see the explicit value of historical insights in enabling and inspiring change.

Suitable for adults and Young People 12+years, £5 per person.

Part of the project ‘Field to Fashion’ funded by ArtFund.
