Stories of Celebration: Five Years of Theatrics, Performance, and drama in the classroom

We invite you to join us for our fifth Symposium to share our practice, and research findings.

Since the inception of MA Applied Theatre & Education five years ago students at University of Derby have been conducting Practice as Research across the region in schools, community centres, after school clubs and with youth theatre groups, but also nationally, and internationally.

At University of Derby, we have created a unique practice within Derby Theatre’s The Learning Theatre to facilitate research and create strong relationships between practitioners, students, teachers, young people and academics. Students will present their participatory methods with young people contributing to the development of critical thinking skills, creativity and wellbeing.

We will celebrate what has been achieved towards furthering our vision to engage and empower young people and our communities, whilst engaging in new theories and performance pedagogy.
