Description
Join us this March for a fantastic intimate foraging experience, and a bespoke menu based on seasonal foods crafted with love and attention.
Take a deep dive into the spring flavours awaiting your discovery. Deepen your connection with nature and your local land by learning about nature’s larder growing right outside your door. Wild garlic is especially abundant at this time of year, scenting the air with a delicious garlicky aroma. It’s a wonderful spring green and a fantastic addition to your kitchen and your diet. You will be able to sustainably and mindfully forage a good harvest of wild garlic to take home, along with other spring greens, flowers, and possibly mushrooms (if the fungi gods smile upon us). Afterwards, relax with a delicious three-course meal using wild, foraged food—some you will now recognise from the walk.
Foraging Walk
We will meet at "Suds & Soda" and take a moderate, gentle 2.5-hour walk to and from Markeaton Park or Darley Park (whichever is more abundant on the day). During the walk, we will help you develop your connection with nature as well as yourself, changing how you see the world around you and how you interact with it.
Learn to Identify
Discover how to safely identify edible plants, flowers, and fungi, and how to distinguish them from any potentially harmful lookalikes. At the core of foraging is safety, which relies on the ability to correctly identify each plant or fungus. We will not only equip you with knowledge of what we encounter on the day, but also support your ability to continue learning and remain a safe and confident forager.
Foraged Feast
End the day by enjoying a delicious bespoke three-course meal full of seasonal foraged goodness:
Starter: Canapés of pickled Scarlet Elf Cups with triple wild garlic pesto, Slate Bolete crackers with St. George’s mushroom pâté, and wild garlic hummus on blackening polypore pancake.
Main: Ramen with tempura hogweed shoots, and a special secret mushroom tempura (find out on the day).
Dessert: Flowering currant chocolate ganache with Darwin’s berberis flower syrup.
Drink: A complimentary kombucha or cordial from Mycosia. Additional drinks can be ordered from the bar at Suds & Soda, which offers a wide range of beverages, including “Foraged Wine.”
Spaces are limited - book now to secure your spot.
