Sinfonia Viva Introduces: Beethoven
A quick fix of Beethoven for those who like their concerts short and sharp. This one-hour programme features three landmark works, with unique insight into the music from conductor Karen Ní Bhroin and our musicians.
We’re playing three pieces Beethoven wrote around his 30th birthday, before he became famous and just as he began to experience hearing loss. His First Symphony demonstrates the structural and tonal innovations that made his music unique, setting him apart from earlier composers. You’ll also hear the bold Overture to The Creatures of Prometheus – his only full-length ballet – and a rare chance to enjoy the lyrical Romance for Violin and Orchestra No.1.
If you’ve ever wanted a deeper understanding of Beethoven’s music, or simply a way to enjoy it more, this concert is for you. And with an 8pm finish, you’ll have time for dinner afterwards or an early night.
Programme:
Beethoven | Overture to The Creatures of Prometheus
Beethoven | Romance for Violin and Orchestra No.1
Beethoven | Symphony No.1
Performers:
Conductor – Karen Ní Bhroin
Violin – Sophie Rosa
