In the wake of the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa on the island of Jamaica, the DWICA Steel Pans, in collaboration with the Caribbean community of Derby, are coming together to raise vital funds and supplies for those affected.
Join us for an uplifting event filled with the joyful rhythms of steel band music, community spirit, and a shared purpose — to make a real difference for families rebuilding their lives. Every contribution, big or small, will help bring hope and relief to Jamaica.
The DWICA Steel Pans is a community-based group dedicated to bringing the vibrant sounds of the Caribbean to Derby and beyond. Led by Lionel McCalman, former leader of Nostalgia Steelband and widely celebrated as a “godfather” of UK steel band music, the group performs an irresistible mix of Reggae, Soca, and popular tunes that lift every crowd.
Performances can feature 2 to 8 talented players, creating the perfect atmosphere for any event — from carnivals and festivals to family celebrations and corporate occasions. With flexible set lengths and infectious energy, DWICA Steel Pans will bring sunshine, rhythm, and purpose to this special fundraising event.
