BrickLab Academy - Creative Model Building Workshop

Derby Market Hall & BrickLab Academy is bringing a series of family-friendly LEGO® building workshops to Derby Market Hall.

We are offering children and families the chance to work together on a single, exclusive LEGO® workshop designed especially for this event.

During each session, participants will be guided step-by-step to build a custom LEGO® model designed by Brad Charlton Wells, a former LEGO® Master Model Builder. This bespoke design has been created exclusively for the Derby Market Hall workshops and is the only model built during the sessions, ensuring a focused, shared experience for families.

The custom model is themed around Derby itself, celebrating the city’s local identity and creativity. It will be produced in strictly limited edition numbers and will only be available to those attending the BrickLab Academy sessions at Derby Market Hall.

BrickLab Academy was founded by Brad Charlton Wells, who has extensive experience designing large-scale LEGO® models and delivering creative, educational workshops across the UK. Each workshop is carefully structured to support children of all abilities, encouraging teamwork, confidence, and creativity in a welcoming and supportive environment.

These sessions are ideal for families looking to enjoy quality time together, with children and adults collaborating on a guided build rather than open free-play. Alongside the workshop experience, attendees will also be able to view inspiring LEGO® display models from the BrickLab collection.

BrickLab Academy’s mission is to make creativity accessible and to use play as a tool for learning and community engagement. The Derby Market Hall workshops form part of a wider programme of pop-up events delivered in cultural and community venues across the UK.
