This hands-on, three-day course at Whistlewood Common in Melbourne, Derby, is designed to give you a solid foundation in straw bale building, clay plastering, and lime plastering. Whether you’re taking your first step toward a career in natural building, planning your own project, or simply eager to work with sustainable materials, this course provides the practical experience you need to move forward with confidence.

Who is it for?
This course welcomes all abilities. Training sites are known for their friendly, collaborative atmosphere, so you’ll feel at home whether you’re a beginner or experienced craftsperson.

About the course:
Workshop-based and firmly hands-on, participants will build and plaster in a supportive environment, working collaboratively. The aim is to help you get a feel for straw bales and natural plasters, sparking your journey in natural building.

About your trainer:
Salli is a graduate of SNaB’s training programme and has taught on many of its courses to great acclaim. With a background in education and almost ten years’ natural building experience, she is now building her own straw-bale workshop and planning a straw rebuild of her family home.
