Description
Steve Nallon’s Ghost Stories is a darkly humorous collection of tales offering modern takes on classic supernatural traditions.
The performance features haunted houses, enchanted mirrors, graveyards, ghosts-on-the-road, revengeful witches and more. Each story has its own distinctive tone, ranging from psychological horror and fateful suspense to comedic mischief and warm-hearted redemption.
Performance readings include a Halloween homage to M.R. James, a Downing Street satire featuring the ghost of Margaret Thatcher, a 1940s detective story with a supernatural feline twist, and a farce narrated in the style of Kenneth Williams involving the spirit of Carry On star Hattie Jacques.
The evening also explores the inspiration behind the stories and the creative influences of leading figures in supernatural fiction, including novelist Stephen King and filmmaker Guillermo del Toro.
