Stage and Screen: The Golden Edition

Join us for an unforgettable evening of music, memories, and theatrical magic as we celebrate Derby Theatre’s 50th anniversary.

Let the music tell the story and help us honour 50 years of unforgettable performance on Saturday 20 September 2025 – the exact date the theatre first opened its doors 50 years ago…

This special concert event pays tribute to half a century of stagecraft with a rich, rousing soundtrack drawn from the theatre’s most iconic productions. From the timeless charm of My Fair Lady – the very first show ever performed at Derby Theatre – to a thrilling Bitesize Broadway rendition of Sweeney Todd, the programme promises a journey through the music that has underscored generations of storytelling.

Bringing this musical history to life is Derwent Brass – Derbyshire’s premier brass band and a powerhouse of innovation and artistry on the national stage. This multi-award-winning ensemble made history as the first brass band to receive the Royal Philharmonic Society Inspiration Award, cementing its status as one of the UK’s most exciting and dynamic brass ensembles.

Whether you’re a lifelong supporter of Derby Theatre or discovering its magic for the first time, this golden anniversary celebration is not to be missed.
