Samvāda in Clay is an ambitious new international ceramics residency and exhibition launching this July at Artcore Gallery in Derby. The project brings together two leading voices in contemporary ceramics: Vinod Daroz (India) and Abbie Sunter (UK) for a creative and cultural dialogue grounded in clay.

Taking its name from the Sanskrit word Samvāda, meaning “dialogue,” the residency creates space for mutual exchange, reflection, and innovation. Through shared studio practice, community workshops, and critical discussion, the project explores personal, cultural, and geographical narratives expressed through ceramic form.

Supported by the University of Derby, this residency is part of Artcore’s commitment to global artistic collaboration and to nurturing both emerging and established talent in ceramics.
