GREENHOUSE JAM PRESENTS 004: Fuji.Speedway + Vikasati

Description

Fuji Speedway are a Sheffield-based fusion sextet that have hit the ground running. Affiliated with both the nascent Sheffield progressive jazz and electronic scenes, they have garnered a remarkable response for a group still in their infancy, securing a wide range of bookings at vanguard venues across the North. Fuji Speedway draw from a maelstrom of musical influences, including jazz, broken beat and electronic sounds. An eclectic and exciting young outfit whose propulsive and clubby sound chimes with more dynamic audiences.

VIKASATI are an elusive duo from the east-midlands who perform semi-improvised jazz and broken beats. Jacob (keys) and Ant (drums, percussion) use a delicate balance of light and shade to breathe life into their nu-jazz inflected melodies and intricate, dynamic progressions. Polyrhythms and fluid, textural grooves help to paint a subtle and progressive vision. Sounds like Tigran Hamasyan, Go Go Penguin, Mammal Hands and the Cinematic Orchestra.

Hosted by Greenhouse Jam, who have built up quite the reputation for putting on high quality up and coming projects at the forefront of UK Jazz.

This event is situated at the Electric Daisy, a community gardening project in the middle of the Derby city centre turned gorgeous semi-outdoors venue.
