Description
Are you interested in developing your creative writing?
Dracula's Reflection is a free six-part creative writing workshop series. It’s open to writers of all levels, as long as you are 18 or over. Each workshop explores a theme from Bram Stoker's 1896 novel and Hamilton Deane's 1924 adaptation for the Derby stage, relating them to the contemporary moment. Every week workshops participants hear a short-talk introducing a theme from the Dracula texts, which leads into an opportunity to respond during group discussions, before creative writing prompts and exercises are shared with the group to generate new writing.
The workshop is run by Joe Coghlan, a writer, mural artist and educator based in Derbyshire. As a writer, he's delivered workshops, completed commissions and performed his writing at literary events and festivals around the UK, working with companies such as Writing East Midlands, Apples and Snakes, and Renaissance One. For the last two decades Joe has worked as a creative writing associate and guest lecturer at the University of Derby.
The workshops take place on Saturday afternoons, from 3.30pm, at Thrivemind Village, 39 Iron Gate, Derby DE1 3GA. There are workshops on Saturday 11 January, Saturday 25 Jan, Saturday 8 February, 22 February, Saturday 8 March, Saturday 22 March.
