Description

Derwent Brass Masterworks: Pictures at an Exhibition

Derwent Brass – Derbyshire’s premier brass band and the first brass band in history to receive a Royal Philharmonic Society Award – returns to Derby Cathedral for a spectacular evening of music.

Following the success of The Planets in 2022, the Masterworks Concert Series continues with Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition in Elgar Howarth’s iconic brass band arrangement. The performance pays tribute to Howarth, a giant of the genre who passed away earlier this year.

Also featuring:

  • Festive Overture – Shostakovich
  • A Moorside Suite – Holst
  • Euphonium Concerto No.1 – Golland, with guest soloist Adam Bokaris (Black Dyke Band)

This evening of masterful music will be led by Principal Music Director Jack Capstaff and supported by the John Bagley Music Trust.
