Very little now remains of Bridge Hill House, once the grand home of the Strutt family — the industrial pioneers who built and owned the iconic Belper mills beside the banks of the River Derwent.

Time has swept almost everything away… except one remarkable survivor.

Hidden within a private garden, the Ice House stands as the best-preserved structure from the estate — and for the first time in 7 years, the gates are opening.

This is a rare opportunity to explore a site few have seen and to uncover the ingenious way the Strutts stored ice long before refrigeration existed.
