QUAD Co-Lab Season

30th March 2020 - 5th April 2020

A showcase of newly co-commissioned work by artists who have transposed traditional use of media (painting, drawing, sculpture) into Virtual Reality or film works, with participation activities alongside the following exhibitions:

Anna Bunting-Branch, Warm Worlds And Otherwise: an exhibition that relates to the artist’s interest in the encounters between feminist practice and science fiction, using painting, digital animation and Virtual Reality to explore ideas of worldbuilding, embodied perception and technologies of representation. 

Dryden Goodwin, Alongside: is a newly commissioned film, a sensory study of the working life of a social care worker, supporting three vulnerable disabled adult clients as they access the world beyond the day-care centre.

FORMAT International Photography Festival Off-Year takes place in QUAD and in venues around Derby from April to June 2020. The annual international Portfolio Review (the biggest in the UK) will take place on 25th April 2020.

Summer Nights Outdoor Film Festival returns in May 2020 with Spring screenings at Wollaton Hall and Derby Rugby Club, the full festival then continues from 9th July to 19th September 2020.

Paracinema Film Festival returns 7th to 10th May 2020. Paracinema is dedicated to films and genres outside the mainstream.

Derby Film Festival will run 19th to 23rd November 2020 Derby Film Festival features international films with Previews, Premieres and special guests to be announced. Derby Film Festival is now open for submissions, filmmakers can go to https://filmfreeway.com/DerbyFilmFestival-889247 for an early bird rate until July 2020.
