Audrina Hatton-Wright will be switching on the giant Christmas presents in the Market Place from 4.30pm on Friday 29th November.
As many of you will know Audrina is a 4 year old from Derby battling a rare childhood cancer, Neuroblastoma. You can read more about Audrina’s story here.
In the run up to the switch-on there will be a choir singing some of our Christmas favourites, and Radio Derby, who have been following Audrina’s journey will be there broadcasting the switch on live just after 5.00pm.
As part of the past, present and future vision, the four giant presents will be installed in the Market Place and in a first for Europe, they’ll perform a synchronised light and music show every 30 minutes. You’ll be able to get up close and even walk through the presents as they ‘perform’.
The new futuristic tree will also be switched on lighting up the Spot each day and evening throughout the festive season.
The presents and tree have been developed by Blachere Illuminations, one of the biggest illuminations companies in the world, with installations in over 150 countries, including Harrods and the Champs Élysées, as well as creating the stunning Norwich ‘Tunnel of Light’.
