Gaia at Derby Cathedral - Part of Derby Festé

24th September 2022

Luke Jerram’s Gaia will be with Derby Cathedral from 22nd September until 16th October 2022.

This spectacular installation stimulates thought over key issues of climate change, creation, and our place on the Earth.

‘Gaia’, which in Greek mythology means the personification of the Earth.

Measuring seven metres in diameter and created from 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the Earth’s surface, ‘Gaia’ provides the opportunity to see the planet in its entirety as it slowly revolves above the nave in Derby Cathedral, accompanied by a surround-sound composition by BAFTA award winning composer Dan Jones.

Entry will be free with a suggested entry donation of £3 per person. Donations will go towards the care and work of the city’s Cathedral, helping to keep its doors open for all.

9am - 9pm.
