From Venus to Mars Walk - Part of Derby Walking Festival

22nd May 2019

From Venus to Mars, 11am

With Beyond the Pencil

A short, easy walk around the inner Solar System, exploring Alvaston Park’s Science Garden with stops for hands-on science.

Join us on a walk that's out of this world. We will start by Venus (near the café and play area) and journey past the Sun, discovering just why it has a giant pencil sticking out of it, and then to Mercury and beyond. Test out our whispering dishes, find out why Taurus has a red eye and learn some secrets of the Science Garden.

Difficulty: Easy

Mostly paths. The walk passes over grass in one part, but a path option is available.

Distance: 1 mile

Practical information: A small section of the walk will be across grass, please wear appropriate footwear. Toilets available in the park and café. This walk will not be cancelled due to adverse weather conditions unless they are so extreme the safety of participants becomes compromised.  In the unlikely event that this walk needs to be cancelled, updates will be posted on the Facebook page.
