Bass' Recreation Ground

COVID-19 (Coronavirus) updates - Following the Government’s change in guidance, visitors can enjoy and make more use of Derby’s parks and open spaces.

The Derby Parks team are asking all park users to be considerate and continue to use social distancing to keep themselves and each other safe. Some facilities remain closed, please visit the news story for up to date information. You can contact the parks team by email at parksadmin@derby.gov.uk

Bass' Recreation Ground is located within the city centre, close to Intu and Pride Park.

The park can easily be accessed from Derby's bus and train stations which are 5 minute’s walk away. The Recreation Ground is bound by the River Derwent to the north and is 4.5 hectares in size.

The space was bequest to the City by a generous benefactor Michael Bass, leader of the Bass Brewery. The land carries a covenant which restricts its use to “be forever used and enjoyed by the inhabitants of the Borough of Derby for a public play and recreation ground”.

The park also features the popular Derby Skatepark located near to the Cock Pitt junction end of the site.
