Whilst a wine merchant by trade (Est. 2007); in recent years Darley Abbey Wines have added a wine bar with a couple of fires roaring throughout the winter & a 200 year old courtyard which they open up each spring. It is a fairly bustling place full of like-minded souls enjoying a good glass of something, in good company with great music.
They serve fresh hand-made pizza straight from their pizzeria next door in the courtyard.
Both in the wine bar, and their wine shop in the adjacent building, there is inevitably a focus on wine with around 100 wines on the list at any one time. They also have a small but interesting range of beer (with 3 on tap), and many an artisan spirit. If you are a fan of whisky then the ‘Cage Of Age’ may be of interest!
Darley Abbey Wines have year-round wine tastings (2-3 tastings a month) which are now housed in their wine shop. There’s always at least a couple of hours of informative fun to be had. Most see half a dozen interesting wines tasted alongside accompanying charcuterie.
They have recently acquired a distillery licence to produce their own Darley Abbey Distillery spirits. Their copper still is currently on its travels from Portugal & they are excited to have their own Darley Abbey Distillery Gin available from Summer 2021.
For all of the above & probably more; you can find them imbibing away in ‘The Stables’ (built in 1805) within the historic UNESCO Darley Abbey Mills World Heritage Site.
