Description
Vocal ensemble Siglo de Oro present Allegri’s famous Miserere, in a concert of 17th-century music from Italy.
The first part of the concert is dedicated to Adriano Banchieri’s Carnival music, a riotous display of colorful celebratory music, featuring theorbo, violin, harpsichord and percussion. The second part is focused on penitential music, including Gregorio Allegri’s famous Miserere, with Baroque ornamentation.

Siglo de Oro is a leading British vocal ensemble, recognised internationally for its golden tone, fresh interpretations, and innovative programming. Since its acclaimed debut at the Spitalfields Festival in 2014, Siglo de Oro has performed across the UK, Europe and North America, recorded five albums for Delphian Records, and broadcast regularly on BBC Radio 3.
In the 2024-25 season, Siglo de Oro will give concerts in the USA, Canada, Finland and across the UK. The group is currently in residence at Wigmore Hall, where its upcoming concerts include a collaboration with Caroline Shaw.
