Description
Join us for a Sunday afternoon of DIVINE goodness.
To celebrate the LGBT+ heritage, influence and legacy on the social landscape of Derby and to highlight the unbelievable historic event that is ‘the time Divine came to Chesterfield’ in ’86 – we are showing John Waters’ 1988 wonder, Hairspray.
It’s Baltimore, 1962, and a rebellious teenager with the biggest bouffant on the block (Ricki Lake) attempts to win the coveted “Miss Auto Show” crown as she fights against racial discrimination in this film created and directed by John Waters and featuring Divine in their last role
DANCING THROUGH TIME
SHARIN’ HOUR IN THE CAFF
Come along, watch the film and if you fancy it, stick around after for some complimentary cakes and sarnies in the cafe!
Do you have memories, photographs or stories of Derby’s LGBT+ music, club and dance scene?
We will be in the QUAD cafe sharing and archiving your stories; the highlights and realities of navigating the LGBT+ scene, with aims of preserving and sharing with future generations this often unknown aspect of Derby’s social heritage for the Dancing Through Time archive.
