High Tea for High Heels

30th June 2016

Thinking about pay day and drooling over spending your hard earned cash? -  We have found the perfect treat!

High Tea for High Heels at Lisa Jean at Bennetts would be the perfect glam afternoon with friends – such a fab girlie day out and a gorgeous way to get in those catch ups you have been meaning to do for ages.

My friend Michelle and I have had our fair share of Afternoon Teas but ‘High Heels for High Tea’ offers something a little different and a bit more special. Being presented with a Royal Albert old country roses fine bone china tier cake stand full of delicious indulgences makes us clap our hands with glee like excited children. Lisa Jean at Bennetts does not disappoint. Think of finger sandwiches made up with the most delectable of fillings including cucumber, cream cheese and beetroot, egg mayonnaise and salad cress, maple glazed ham with Lisa’ piccalilli and last but not least coronation chicken, mango and coriander. Oh and the most wonderful, elegant smoked salmon tartare blinis that melt in your mouth.

It doesn’t stop there, as we make our way through a selection of freshly baked pastries including my favourite king prawn marie rose vol au vents as well as mouth-watering petite mature cheddar cheese and spring onion rolls and sausage rolls.

On to the sweet stuff which will make you weep with happiness… We almost did but were too busy scoffing crumbly fruit scones served with homemade strawberry compote, lemon curd and clotted cream, petite sugar glazed, crunchy elderflower crème brûlée and a cheeky Pimm’s jelly. Heaven! A lot of thought has been given to the different tastes you experience on each tier with the final sweet tier cleansing your palate delightfully.

High tea is served with a selection of herbal and fruit infusion loose leaf tea but if you want to make it extra special you can treat yourself to a glass of house champagne or even a Hendrick’s gin with cucumber, elderflower fever tree tonic. It was wonderful to be able to smell a sample of the teas before making your choice. I would highly recommend the green tea tropical which was harmoniously blended with sweet tropical fruits to create a tasteful and healthy infusion.

After that it’s back to hibernation until payday next month, but at least we will have the memories! The service was impeccable, staff friendly and the food was out of this world, so put on your High Heels and head for High Tea!
