It’s the time of year when people at Déda, QUAD, Derby LIVE and for the first time Derby Theatre are gearing up for Derby Festé.

Since its first appearance – to mark the opening of Westfield (now Intu shopping centre) one evening in October 2007 – Festé has grown to be a nationally and internationally recognised festival of street arts.

This year Festé will leave the people of Derby in a spin on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 September. For those of you who have been before you’ll know to expect an eclectic mix of street arts performers, dance, theatre, music and comedy, alongside the now traditional “wow… did that really just happen in Derby?” show.

Filling this slot is Spanish company Voalá who have toured the globe with their show Muaré. This unforgettable spectacle features a live rock band as daring aerial acrobats spiral down from giant revolving mobiles to meet the audience in a fluorescent wonderland.

Derby is made for a street arts festival in that it has a number of outdoor spaces which are ideal for performance, all within a short walk of each other. According to the map at the back of the new Festé brochure, performances will be happening in SIXTEEN different locations – and that doesn’t include the pre-Festé Launch Event FLOWN at Derby Theatre two weeks before.

Have a look at the Festé brochure and circle the shows that you really don’t want to miss. And make sure you turn out for the highlight of Derby’s events calendar – if you like what you see, support the work of Déda, Derby LIVE, Derby Theatre and QUAD all year-round!

Derby Festé 2014 is on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 September.
