This Summer Visual Arts Exhibition features work from award-winning children’s illustrator Kate Smith, local artist-maker Del Coombes, and renowned contemporary artist Andrew Macara.
LAUNCH EVENT - 11 May 6.30 - 8pm (FREE)
Andrew Macara was born in Derbyshire in 1944. Although Andrew studied contemporary modern British Art for a short period with Leonard Fuller at the St Ives School of Painting, he considers himself a self-taught artist. Andrew Macara travels extensively gathering images for paintings from around the world but his native Derbyshire features in many paintings.
Kate Smith is an award-winning Children’s illustrator and designer. She is also a workshop leader and Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Volunteer Artist, where Kate facilitates Creative workshops at the The Hope and Resilience Hub. She enjoys being able to encourage other people to express themselves using Art as Therapy.
Del Coombes’ exhibition is a celebration of three years’ work when he exploited his obsessive tendency to create three pieces of work each day, resulting in over 3,000 items produced. By re-using materials, found objects and ideas, he creates visual comments on his own life and the world around him. The exhibition will continue from January to December 2017.
