Returning for its 42nd year Derby West Indian Community Association (DWICA) is proud to announce Derby Caribbean Carnival 2017.
Come and experience Derby Caribbean Carnival and enjoy the music, the street procession, Caribbean carnival's world famous catering dishes e.g. jerk chicken, festivals, a selection of mouth watering patties, rum punch and rum cake, natural healthy juices, sugar cane, and the list goes on.
The new starting point will be at the Market Place in the city centre with the procession leaving the Market Place at 1pm.
Any supporters who wish to experience the set-up and preperations for the procession will have a first-hand opportunity to see and take photographs from the starting point of the Market Place before the procession sets off at 1pm.
There will be in excess of 450 troupes representing Caribbean carnivals nationwide, with an international headline act Derby Caribbean Carnival is one of the most popular carnivals in the Midlands and, arguably, in England.
We are now recruiting for DWICA 2017 carnival troupes to represent Derby, and to go on our annual tour to carnivals in key cities in the United Kingdom during the summer.
To develop Derby Caribbean Carnival 2017 the organisers will be working in partnership with Derby Live, the University of Derby, community & voluntary, Public and Private sector organisations.
