The World famous Derby Ghost Walks run throughout the year, and continue to be a success since they were started by Most Haunted’s, Richard Felix over 25 years ago. There is a choice of 2 Ghost Walks, The City Centre Ghost Walk and The Friargate (Hangman’s) Ghost Walk, which are both led by experienced, informative, and friendly guides. Be aware though… Due to the popular nature of the Ghost Walks pre booking is essential.
All Ghost Walks start at 7pm sharp, and the price includes a candlelit supper. The City Centre Walk starts from the Old Bell Hotel in Sadlergate and the Friargate Ghostwalk starts from Derby Gaol in Agard Street, DE1 1DZ. Please aim to be there for 6.50pm. Tours last approx. 3 hrs
The prices for these walks are as follows:
• City Centre Walk £25.00 per person (children under 12, students and OAPs - £22.00))
• Friar Gate Walk £25.00 per person (children under 12, students and OAPs - £22.00)
Private Ghost Walks can be arranged for a minimum of 15 people at £25.00 per person, with groups of 20 or more being £22.00 per person. We welcome company outings or private parties, paranormal buffs or just the morbid and curious!
The walks are not recommended for children under 10, but it is at your discretion whether you feel that anyone younger will cope with one of our frightening Ghost Walks!
The now legendary City Centre Walk takes you around Derby City Centre and is recommended for all would be ghosthunters.
Starting at our meeting point, The Old Bell Hotel on Sadlergate. We start the walk with an introduction to the night as we head off to the Cornmarket, & Fishmarket areas of the city, where you will learn the infamous ghost story of PC Moss, the only police officer in Derbyshire to be murdered in the line of duty.
Following that is our 1st haunted pub stop, the Tiger Bar before descending into the Guildhall Tunnels. The walk continues, back at ground level, carrying on through the market place & into the Jorrocks, our second haunted pub stop & Derbyshire’s most haunted pub, home of an actual human skull, found in the early 1990’s.
The trip continues down St Mary’s Gate & back to the Old Bell.
We conclude the night with a ghosthunters supper, served back at the Old Bell Hotel.
This walk starts & finishes at The Derby Gaol, which has resided at the basement of 50/51 Friargate Since 1756. On your way round you will hear stories of murders, executions, crime, punishment and ghostly occurrences.
We start with a brief tour of the Gaol, treating everyone like inmates, before heading down Agard Street, whilst hearing of the harrowing murder of Eliza Morrow in 1862. The walk proceeds down Friargate where we have our haunted pub stop at the Old Friary (Scream), before entering the cellars beneath, which are haunted by the figure of a ghostly Black Friar. We also visit the very haunted Room 106, part of the original Hotel!
We continue the walk up to Derby’s 3rd & last County Prison on Vernon Gate before returning to our Gaol for a Condemned Man’s Supper.
Then unlike so many that have been in the Gaol before, you will be permitted to go home!
Derby Gaol Vigil
If you ever wondered what it would be like to take part in a paranormal investigation in the reputedly haunted Derby Gaol, you need wonder no more!
The Gaol is available for overnight hire, whether you want to conduct your own paranormal investigation, experience the atmosphere of the old Gaol, or just celebrate your Hen or Stag night in a kooky and original manner.
There is a minimum allocation of 15 people and a maximum of 30 people. Prices are set at £35.00 per person (Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays) and £30 per person (Monday - Thursday). Bar facilities are available on request for each vigil but bar prices are not included in the ticket price.
We also run public events once a month where you can participate whilst we try to contact some of the former residents of the building and grounds, or who knows, maybe one of your own loved ones, as we use a range of divination devices.
And to round off the night, join us in a communication circle where, using all your senses, you might just experience first hand, what makes Derby Gaol one of the most haunted locations in the UK.
There are no minimum group size restrictions, so you can come alone, as a couple, or with a few friends - the choice is yours! Total number of places available is 20.
THE WHOLE NIGHT IS HOSTED BY DERBY GAOL'S OFFICIAL PARANORMAL TEAM
The price includes pie and peas during the night.
