World Heritage Site
The City of Derby is at the start of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site stretching 15 miles down the river Derwent from Derby to Matlock Bath.
The Derwent Valley Mills have been described as the birthplace of the industrial revolution. It was here that the essential ingredients of factory production were successfully combined, in the 18th Century water power was successfully harnessed for textile production.
The World Heritage Site has much to offer all tastes and interests. There are walks and nature trails, shopping centres and high quality eating establishments - all the ingredients for a great day out!
